Our Pearl Dental Studio team utilizes oral sedation to help reduce patients’ anxiety and induce a state of calm and relaxation for various dental procedures. It’s a widely used sedation method in dentistry that, unlike nitrous oxide, involves taking a prescribed sedative medication in pill form before your dental visit. It can range from mild to moderate, depending on the dosage you require, but even with lower doses, we recommend asking someone to drive you to and from your appointment.

If you’re not a good candidate for oral sedation, we do provide other sedation dentistry options, such as nitrous oxide (mild sedation), also known as laughing gas. Nitrous oxide is a mild sedative administered through a small mask that induces a calm and relaxed state while allowing for quick recovery. It’s often used for shorter procedures, and many patients report feeling “giddy” after it’s administered. Both options are safe and effective, but our Toronto dentist will help determine the best option for you during a consultation.

Oral sedation is commonly used for extensive dental treatments, longer procedures, and for patients who experience significant anxiety when visiting the dentist. This method is particularly beneficial for those with a severe gag reflex or dental anxiety, making complex procedures like extractions or root canals much easier to handle.
Our dental clinic is dedicated to ensuring everyone feels safe, comfortable, and relaxed as soon as they step foot in our dental office. While we offer various sedation methods to help ease anxiety and fear, we also aim to reduce anxiety through other means, such as:
Waiting rooms and treatment rooms that are specifically designed to promote relaxation
